Kensington Arts invites young creatives aged 11+ to take part in a one-off exciting Mockumentary Filmmaking Workshop on Saturday 1 August, led by award-winning creative practitioners Django Pinter and Glyn Owen.
Designed as a fast-paced and collaborative introduction to filmmaking, the workshop will give participants the opportunity to explore the art of short-film and mockumentary storytelling while creating an original piece as a team.
Over the course of the session, participants will learn key filmmaking techniques including improvised dialogue, comedic timing and documentary-style filming. Working together, they will experiment with interviews, observational footage and offbeat humour to develop and produce a unique short mockumentary from concept to screen.
The workshop offers an engaging insight into the filmmaking process, with guidance from experienced industry professionals who work across film, theatre and the wider creative industries.
By the end of the session, participants will have created a completed short film to share, making this an accessible and achievable introduction to filmmaking for anyone interested in developing creative skills.
The workshop is ideal for young people with an interest in either filmmaking and production, storytelling, performance and creative collaboration. No previous experience in film or production is required.
Workshop Leaders:
Django Pinter is a UK-based filmmaker and video artist whose work spans directing award-winning short films, creating projection designs for theatre productions, designing an independent video game and illustrating published books.
Glyn Owen is a writer and performance maker working across theatre, film and cabaret. His creative practice is informed by his experiences growing up in a Welsh-speaking agricultural community, combined with influences from East London’s alternative drag and performance scene.
